Landon Clements departed from Southern Charm after completing three seasons in 2017. Even after several years, numerous fans continue to reminisce about her presence on the show. The Georgia-native real estate agent has sporadically commented on her departure from Bravo’s reality series and has kept her followers informed about her life post-exit.
What Happened to Landon Clements on ‘Southern Charm’?
Landon featured in the second, third, and fourth seasons of Southern Charm. However, in September 2017, she declared that she would not be returning for the fifth season.
“I have chosen to move back to California in order to advance my career in residential real estate. I recently renewed my license and am delighted to join CLIMB Real Estate. Although I won’t be coming back to Southern Charm, I am eagerly looking forward to this new phase of my life,” she stated at the time, as reported by People.
Why Did Landon Clements Leave ‘Southern Charm’?
In an interview with People in October 2017, the reality TV star elaborated on her decision to leave Southern Charm. “It wasn’t particularly about the filming process; it was more about what I envisioned for my life,” she clarified. “I am passionate about real estate and the hospitality industry. That’s the direction I wanted to head back towards. I understand that to elevate my career, I need to surround myself with supportive individuals and train seriously, and the summer training has been immensely beneficial.”
Landon went on to say, “I am thrilled to explore new opportunities. While making the show was enjoyable, I was ready to move on to other things.”
She also shared her difficulties in adapting to life in Charleston, South Carolina, compared to Malibu, California, where she relocated after season 4 wrapped up.
“I adore Charleston, but it's a very small town, making it challenging to stay really engaged,” Landon remarked. “I simply wanted to return to California and the west coast. After we finished filming the last season, I went back in March and had to take several classes since my real estate license in California had expired, so I essentially had to go back to school, which I actually enjoyed.”
Tommaso Boddi/Getty Images Landon also mentioned that being in California allowed her to concentrate more on her career rather than her love life.
“I’ve known most of these guys since childhood, or I’m related to them. It’s a very small community with great people, but I’ve literally known them since we were kids.”
It’s quite challenging, which is another significant reason I’ve been in California," she explained. "I’m not currently interested in getting married again. My main focus is on my career and advancing my real estate ventures before I consider any of that.
Although Landon's departure from Southern Charm did involve some cast drama, it wasn't entirely devoid of it. In a conversation with Us Weekly in July 2022, the reality star criticized her former friend, Kathryn Dennis, asserting that several past cast members exited the show “1000 percent” because of Kathryn.
“Absolutely. I surely did,” Landon stated. “She manipulates everything to fit her needs at the moment. The way she treats people is not how I operate. There was just too much negativity.”
Where Is Southern Charm’s Landon Clements Now?
Despite leaving Southern Charm, Landon has maintained connections with several of her former co-stars, including Shep Rose. “They haven’t gotten rid of me yet,” she told People in 2017 regarding her friends. “Honestly, my friends travel often, so they visit all the time ... I still feel like they’re around. We’re like a big family.”
Landon has continued to update her fans about her activities through Instagram. On December 31, 2024, she posted a video reflecting on her year and her experiences.
“2024 What A Year! I traveled across the country hoping for change and together we made that happen”
She captioned the post, "I helped my sister get married and enjoyed moments with friends who are like family. Along the way, I met new friends and pushed myself every day in pursuit of truth. I appreciate everyone who supported me during tough times; you gave me strength. I experienced firsthand a stunning, untamed America and I'm eagerly looking forward to 2025. The Golden Era is upon us, let's commemorate it. There are too many people to mention, but know that I cherish you all deeply.
