If Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce choose to marry after the 2025 Super Bowl, Quinton Lucas—the mayor of Kansas City, Missouri—has offered to officiate their wedding.
“I am thrilled to officiate the wedding,” Quinton, 40, remarked with a laugh during an appearance on CNN News Central on Friday, February 7, although Taylor, 35, and Travis, 35, have yet to announce their engagement after a year and a half of dating.
“That would be the greatest role I could ever have. Forget being the mayor. You’re officiating the wedding of Travis [Kelce] and Taylor [Swift]. It would be a larger event than Princess Diana and Prince Charles. It would be monumental,” he exclaimed.
When the show’s hosts inquired if he had any insider information about the couple tying the knot, Quinton responded, “I have no specific intel, aside from the fact that after the AFC Championship Game here in Kansas City, I was on the field, and suddenly, a swarm of a hundred press surrounded Travis and Taylor as they walked past. I got knocked out of the way.”
The high-profile pair reunited on the field at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, following the Chiefs’ victory over the Buffalo Bills. The team secured a spot in the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 9, where they will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, aiming for an NFL first: three consecutive Super Bowl wins.
The mayor confidently predicted that the Chiefs would win and that Taylor would attract significant attention, adding, “I know they are a major story after the game. During the game, I think we will garner some good attention and secure a win this week.”
Taylor and Travis’ romantic journey took root and flourished in Kansas City. The Ohio native attended one of the pop superstar’s Eras tour performances at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023. Later that month, Travis shared on his “New Heights” podcast how he unsuccessfully tried to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
This effort caught Taylor’s interest, and the two began spending time together shortly thereafter. Their relationship blossomed privately until the “Cruel Summer” singer made her first appearance at a Chiefs home game on September 24, 2023, alongside Travis’ beloved mother, Donna Kelce.

Regardless of whether Taylor and Travis get engaged after Super Bowl LIX, the football player's father has high hopes for the couple, especially as they can now enjoy more personal time together without professional obligations.
“I think, you know, once the Super Bowl is over, it will be a really great opportunity for them,” Ed Kelce shared during an appearance on Australia’s Today show on Thursday, February 6. “With no NFL season and no Eras tour, just the two of them really bonding more. I believe that can only be positive.”
