Prince William reminded his admirers that even the royals are prone to mistakes while recalling an old gift he once gave his wife Princess Kate Middleton.
"I once bought my wife a pair of binoculars. She has never let me live that down," William, 42, revealed during a recent BBC Radio Five Live interview, as reported by the Mirror. "It was quite early in our relationship. I believe it sealed the deal but not in a good way. Honestly, I can’t explain why I thought binoculars would make a good gift back then."
William first mentioned this “terrible” gift in 2020, listing it among the worst gifts he has ever given during a “Peter Crouch” podcast episode.
"I wrapped them nicely. They were quite good quality," William explained to the former soccer player. "I even tried to convince myself, 'These are fantastic! Look at how far you can see!' And she just stared at me like, 'But they’re binoculars. What’s going on here?'"
In more recent years, despite some of the amusing gifts William has given Kate, 42, he has also presented her with thoughtful items from supporters after the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in March.
A month later, St. Michael’s Church of England High School staff and students showered Prince William with gifts for Kate, expressing their affection and hopes for her full and fast recovery.
"We wanted to give something more meaningful than flowers to symbolize the day's message," the school’s senior mental health lead, Kerry Whitehouse, explained.

Though I have completed chemotherapy, the journey towards healing and full recovery is lengthy, and I must approach each day one at a time," Kate expressed in a video message. "To everyone who is undergoing their own cancer battle, know that I stand by your side, offering support and solidarity."
