Millie Bobby Brown responded to critics who likened her latest selfie to a "Jersey Housewife" in an Instagram post.
The 20-year-old Stranger Things star posted several mirror photos on Monday, December 30. She wore a floral dress and carried a small, multicolored Louis Vuitton handbag. Millie opted for light makeup, and her naturally wavy hair fell past her shoulders with a side parting.
"She looks like a 40-year-old Jersey housewife," a follower commented on the post.
In her Instagram Stories shortly afterward, Millie addressed the criticism indirectly.
"Women grow!! Not sorry about it :)," the Enola Holmes actress posted.
Millie Bobby Brown/ Instagram Despite some criticism regarding her appearance, many supporters defended Millie, who hails from Marbella, Spain.
"Omg guys can y’all just let a girl breathe," one person commented. Another added, "Y’all. She’s not a kid anymore. You’re still expecting her to look like baby Eleven. She’s not."
In the second photo of the carousel, Millie focused on her hand, revealing her large wedding ring from husband Jake Bongiovi, whom she married in a private ceremony in May. She confirmed their marriage the following month.
Although she’s no "Jersey Housewife," Millie takes pride in being married to the son of music legend Jon Bon Jovi. She dedicated her first Instagram post of 2025 to their marriage, captioning her January 1 post, "The year of mrs bongiovi."
The video post included clips from the months leading up to their wedding in Tuscany, Italy, and featured moments from their first months as newlyweds.
Another follower responded to Millie’s earlier message about personal growth with a supportive comment on her post.
Millie Bobby Brown/ Instagram "Women do grow, and you don't need to apologize to anyone for it! You’re amazing, so proud of you! You don't owe anybody an apology. It's normal to grow up," the fourth fan commented.
Soon after Millie revealed that she and Jake, 22, had gotten married, an insider exclusively informed Life & Style that she approached the marriage with full awareness and with the intention of being a “great wife.”
“At the time, the source mentioned, “Millie entered the marriage completely aware and feeling the need for a change. She has spent the past seven years continuously working, filming movies during breaks from her TV series [Stranger Things], and earning a substantial amount from her social media endorsements and other paid promotional efforts.”
The insider further elaborated that Millie has expressed her desire to finish Stranger Things on a high note before making any major decisions regarding her future.
Millie not only had the encouragement from her husband and family to take a step back in her acting career, but she also received strong support from her well-known in-laws.
“Jake’s family has been incredibly supportive of Millie taking the time to slow down, settle, and figure out her next steps. She is now an official part of one of the most astute and entrepreneurial families in the entertainment industry,” the insider added at the time.
Netflix announced that production for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things concluded on December 10, 2024.
