Sydney Sweeney Responds to Remarks Regarding Her Physique in Swimwear

Sydney Sweeney delivered an epic retort to those making disparaging remarks about her physique online. Following the spread of images showing the actress in a bikini on December 13, she addressed her critics through an Instagram post the next day.

The Anyone But You star, 27, shared a video featuring a series of screenshots of derogatory comments regarding her appearance. Remarks included phrases like “Kinda dumpy,” “Nothing stunning at all, outdated and not looking lean,” and “Without artifice (makeup, filter and photoshop) she is really ugly!” These comments were among the numerous negative responses to a news article that showcased the photos taken of Sydney while sunbathing at a Florida mansion.

Instead of a lengthy reply, Sydney ended the video with clips of her training for her upcoming role as professional boxer Christy Martin. The footage included her strenuous gym sessions and other workouts aimed at building muscle for the film. Several images featured Sydney flexing to display the outcome of her rigorous training.

The post's comments section overflowed with encouraging words from celebrity friends, like former costar Glen Powell who wrote, “You’re such a badass. This movie is gonna be [fire emoji].” Rachel Brosnahan and Quinta Brunson commented with “fire” emojis, while Kesha added “Strong baddie.”

Lili Reinhart remarked, “It’s always wild to see people publicly reveal their lack of character with comments like that.”

You appear amazing, and your commitment to your work is truly motivating.

MEGASydney has taken on the role of playing Christy in an upcoming biographical film and has been preparing for months. “Well, the secret is out thanks to some photographers hiding in the bushes, so here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the movie I’m currently working on,” she posted on Instagram in October. “For the past few months, I’ve been dedicated to training in order to portray the incredible story of a woman who was a true champion, facing challenges both inside and outside the ring. Her journey embodies resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m privileged to bring her powerful story to the screen. Stay tuned for more updates.”

The Euphoria actress was also recently announced as the lead in the upcoming film adaptation of Frieda McFadden’s novel The Housemaid. In October, she posted a video where she held up the book and then slowly pulled it away to reveal her smiling face. “Tell me about yourself, Millie #TheHousemaidMovie – coming soon!!” she wrote in the caption.

Although the release date for the movie has yet to be announced, it was confirmed that Amanda Seyfried will be co-starring with Sydney. Brandon Sklenar was later revealed to be the male lead in the film, after appearing with Blake Lively in It Ends With Us.
