Beyoncé is a proud mother! The "Formation" singer got emotional while discussing her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, in a recent interview.
“We’re here today recording The Lion King,” Beyoncé, 43, mentioned during an interview with Disney Studios on Tuesday, December 10.
The mother-daughter pair gave fans a behind-the-scenes peek into their contributions to their forthcoming movie, Mufasa: The Lion King.
Blue Ivy, 12, voiced the character Kiara in the film. In the video, she is seen telling Beyoncé, “Don’t stare at me,” while in the recording booth.
“I can’t help it,” Beyoncé responded. “You’re just too beautiful.”
The Grammy Award winner became emotional as she spoke about Blue, struggling to find the words to convey how proud she felt of her daughter’s work on the film.
“Watching Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice come from that character, it made it incredibly difficult for me to concentrate on my own role,” Beyoncé shared, teary-eyed. "I had to pause and absorb it all. My pride is overwhelming.”
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer added, “She did such an outstanding job, it’s astonishing how naturally talented she is,” then turned to Blue saying, “I’m so proud of you. I can’t believe how much you’ve grown. I’m thrilled that she will be a role model for many young, Brown girls globally. No one is prouder than mommy.”

“It’s been an incredible experience, and I feel everyone involved has been extremely supportive and helpful,” Blue remarked.
The director, Barry [Jenkins], is incredibly kind and gives me suggestions on how to enhance my lines.
She added, "He's extremely supportive and communicates it in the kindest way. I feel like everyone else does as well, and I see this as an incredible opportunity that makes me so happy. It's wonderful that girls who look like me worldwide can watch this movie and find representation in it."
Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, are parents to twins Rumi and Sir, as well as their eldest child, Blue. During the interview, Rumi, 7, made a brief appearance by sliding into the frame and hugging her mother, despite Blue's attempts to dissuade her. The mother of three welcomed the inclusion of Rumi in the conversation.
"Someone wants to join in," Beyoncé laughed as Rumi beamed.
Kiara is the offspring of Simba and Nala from the original Lion King movie. In "Mufasa: The Lion King," Rafiki narrates the story of how her grandfather, Mufasa, rose to power. In the 2019 remake, Beyoncé lent her voice to Nala, while Donald Glover voiced Simba.
The "Crazy in Love" artist and Donald, 41, also provided the voices for Nala and Simba in the 2019 adaptation.
