Meghan Markle recently enjoyed a play date with her daughter, Lilibet, and their "auntie" Serena Williams. She posted a rare photograph of Lilibet on Instagram to mark the occasion.
“Only 3 days until the fun starts. Everyone's welcome!” Meghan, 43, captioned the picture shared on her Instagram Stories on March 1.
The "party" Meghan mentioned is in anticipation of the debut of her lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, on Netflix.
The Suits alum also uploaded a short video showing Lilibet, 3, playing Candy Land with Serena, 43. Lilibet was dressed in pink floral leggings and a matching flowy top, while a customized Candy Land box with Lilibet's and Archie’s names could be seen in the background.
“When the aunties visit to celebrate... and play!” the Duchess of Sussex wrote alongside the video.
Meghan and Serena first crossed paths at the Super Bowl in 2010. Their friendship deepened when they met again at another Super Bowl event in 2014.
“When Serena Williams made a beeline for me this past February at an event, nails done, hair done, everything flawless, I must admit I glanced over my shoulder to see who she was heading towards,” Meghan recounted in her now-closed blog, The Tig, in August 2014. “To my surprise, it was me she was approaching. We hit it off instantly, taking photos, sharing laughs during a flag football game we played, and engaging in casual girl talk rather than discussing tennis or acting.”

When the renowned tennis champion announced her pregnancy with her first child in 2017, Meghan enthusiastically expressed her confidence in Serena's future parenting skills.
"She is going to be a phenomenal mother. Absolutely the best, as she excels at balancing both strength and empathy. Furthermore, with her impressive karaoke skills, I imagine she'll add her own unique Serena touch to singing lullabies for her baby. I'm so excited for that!” she shared with Vogue at the time.
Later that year, Serena stood up for Meghan amidst the backlash that followed the revelation of her relationship with Prince Harry.
“Her genuine nature simply radiates,” Serena mentioned to Vanity Fair in an interview published in September 2017. “I advised her, ‘You must stay true to yourself, Meghan. Never conceal who you are.’”
Serena also attended Meghan and Harry's wedding and shared her preparations for the significant event with Vanity Fair in 2022.
“What makes this so memorable is my decision, ‘Royal wedding? I'm definitely going with braids,’” Serena recalled, noting that the preparation took the entire night.
I was extremely exhausted and thought, 'I need to get some sleep.' So I lay down, and they continued braiding non-stop until morning, eventually completing it. Although it took a long time, it was definitely worth it.
