Kim Kardashian reflected on her short-lived relationship with former husband Kris Humphries and disclosed that she funded most of the engagement ring he presented to her.
During the Thursday, March 13 episode of The Kardashians, 44-year-old Kim reminisced about the rings she received throughout her three marriages. She was married to Damon Thomas between 2000 and 2004, then to Kris, 40, known for their marriage that lasted only 72 days after their 2011 wedding. Her third and latest marriage was to Kanye West, lasting from 2014 until 2022.
“Khloé [Kardashian], should I wear my diamonds again? I'm curious about the shape of my next ring — maybe my final hoorah,” Kim questioned her sister. “The first one from Damon was a 14-carat cushion cut.”
She continued to talk about her ring from Kris. “The second one, which I had to return to Kris, was 18 carats,” Kim elaborated. “I didn’t keep it. When I was pregnant with North, still married to him, he demanded the ring back for the divorce. He only covered a fifth of its price.”
Although Kim and Kris parted ways soon after their wedding, their divorce was officially finalized in April 2013.
After her breakup with Kris, Kim started dating Ye, and in 2013, they celebrated the birth of their daughter North. Post their 2014 wedding, they had three more children: son Saint in 2015, daughter Chicago in 2018, and son Psalm in 2019.
“The first ring from my third marriage was the only jewelry I did not take to Paris,” Kim mentioned, referring to when she was robbed in Paris in 2016. “I once wore both my engagement rings, and Kanye advised, 'Never wear both at the same time. Do you want to get robbed?'”
Lastly, Kim disclosed that she intended to pass on Ye's engagement ring to North.

“That whole situation was incredibly challenging for me,” Kim described her relationship with the former basketball player during a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “At the time, I thought, ‘Holy s–t, I’m 30 years old, I need to get my life in order. I need to get married.’ I think many girls experience this, where they panic about aging and seeing their friends having children. It was more about that mindset. But I realized during the honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.”
Furthermore, Kim has mentioned she didn’t consider her first two marriages to be genuine. “Honestly, my last marriage felt like my first real one,” she stated on the “Goop” podcast in December 2022. “The first time, I didn’t understand what was happening. The second time, I was desperate to be married because all my friends were at that stage and I thought that’s where I should be.
