Benson Boone Says Sorry for Clothing Mishap at 2025 Grammy Awards

Benson Boone became a trending topic on social media thanks to his dynamic performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, which also featured a memorable wardrobe mishap.

The 22-year-old singer thrilled the audience with his rendition of "Beautiful Things," accompanied by supermodel Heidi Klum and comedian Nikki Glaser. The duo dramatically tore off his black outfit to unveil a dazzling baby blue jumpsuit underneath during the show on Sunday, February 2.

Benson captivated the crowd with his smooth vocals and his signature piano flip. However, fans noticed a playful incident at the end of his set when he adjusted his jumpsuit.

“I will be thinking about Benson Boone’s crotch grab for … a WHILE,” one fan commented on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Sometimes there’s just no good way around it,” another user remarked, while a third cheekily asked, “Wait … Does Benson’s crotch have its own website and media manager yet?!”

CBS/Recording Academy Benson humorously addressed the online remarks in a shirtless Instagram Story posted on Monday, February 3, saying, “Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight; that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas.”

The former American Idol contestant was up for Best New Artist at the star-studded event, but the award ultimately went to Chappell Roan.

Despite the fervor around his performance, Benson is in a committed relationship with actress and TikTok star Maggie Thurmon, who also hosts a podcast. The couple made their relationship public in March 2024.

Benson contributed his voice to the track "Death Wish Love" featured in the film's soundtrack.

When questioned about whether the launch of his debut album, Fireworks and Rollerblades, was anxiety-inducing or smooth following the success of his popular single, Benson explained that he relied on the process and believed that "Beautiful Things" was not just a momentary success.

"I totally understand the pressure associated with this album. But ‘Beautiful Things’ had its own unique journey, and we dedicated a lot of effort to achieving that success — and I am aware that such a result isn't guaranteed, nor am I counting on it," he shared with Grammy.com.

"But I'm putting all my effort into sharing the album with as many people as possible, regardless of its streaming success. I'm genuinely proud of these songs, and I've created something that I'm passionate about and love. So, I'm just enthusiastic about releasing my first album."

Luckily, Benson discovered a creative process that works for him. "I think I’ve recently found a method that I’ll likely use for most of my writing career," the chart-topping artist continued. "It's usually me and the piano, late at night when I can't sleep. I’ll sit down, play some chords, and improvise melodies.
