Zendaya and Tom Holland are now engaged, as he proposed during the holiday season, according to multiple sources.
TMZ initially reported this, revealing on Monday, January 6, that the proposal occurred sometime between Christmas and New Year's. According to reports, Tom, 28, asked Zendaya, also 28, to marry him while at one of her family residences in the United States.
The source mentioned that Tom opted for a low-key, yet deeply romantic and personal proposal. Though they were at her family home, the couple shared the tender moment privately.
Another family insider informed People that “everyone close to them knew an engagement was on the horizon” and Tom had been contemplating the proposal for quite some time.
Although the couple is thrilled by their engagement, they have no immediate plans to get married. “They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” the insider indicated. “They are both occupied with their projects.”
The engagement news surfaced shortly after Zendaya ignited engagement rumors by wearing a sizable diamond ring at the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5. The piece appeared to be a 5.02ct East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from jewelry brand Jessica McCormack, according to a report from gossip account Duexmoi.
As soon as fans noticed the ring, speculation about the couple’s engagement spread across social media. “Streets are saying zendaya is engaged and suddenly life is worth living,” one user posted on X, while another reacted to a video of Zendaya showing off the ring, writing, “ARE ZENDAYA AND TOM HOLLAND ENGAGED!?!? SHE IS SHOWING OFF A RING!!!”
Tom and Zendaya developed a close bond in 2016 while working together on the film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
For several years, they were rumored to be romantically involved, and the pair appeared to validate their relationship when they were seen kissing in his car in July 2021.

The source mentioned they had been discussing future wedding plans but needed to “decide on the location for the wedding – whether in the US, England, or a neutral location.”
“And like everything they do together, they are determined to maintain a sense of elegance, inclusiveness, and forward-thinking in their wedding,” the insider commented on their upcoming nuptials.
