Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel Still Haven’t ‘Figured Out’ Wedding Plans After 16 Months Engaged

Jonathan Scott is setting a significant objective for 2025 — organizing his wedding!

The Don’t Hate Your House with the Property Brothers star, aged 46, shared updates about his wedding plans with fiancée Zooey Deschanel, 44, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. Despite their excitement for the big day, Scott mentioned that both he and Deschanel have been too occupied to make significant progress in planning.

“I can assure you we have done absolutely zero percent more work,” he humorously told PEOPLE. “We've been busy with many things. Maybe that will be my New Year's resolution — we need to sort out this wedding.”

While they haven't finalized the details yet, Scott previously mentioned their intention to keep the wedding guest list relatively small.

“We know the most important aspect for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones,” he told PEOPLE in May. “We don't plan on having an extravagant, over-the-top wedding. It will be quite intimate.”

He added that following their intimate ceremony, they intend to host a second event with additional friends.

“We’ll probably have another party just for friends here locally,” Scott said. The couple resides in Los Angeles in their 1938 “dream home” which they renovated together.

The Celebrity IOU host and New Girl actress first met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke with Scott’s twin brother Drew and Deschanel’s sister Emily in August 2019. They were seen holding hands a month later and went public with their relationship on Instagram in October of the same year.

After being together for four years, Jonathan proposed during a vacation in Scotland in August 2023.

He included Zooey's children — daughter Elsie, 9, and son Charlie, 7 — in the romantic gesture by having them unfurl a banner that read, "Zooey, will you marry me?" as he went down on one knee at Edinburgh Castle.
