Joe Alwyn has left his past relationship with Taylor Swift behind and believes everyone else should do the same.
In a recent discussion with The Guardian, the 33-year-old actor addressed the outlet's remark that he might want to move on from their six-year relationship, which concluded in early 2023, by stating that he already has.
“That’s something for other people to do. We’re discussing something that’s in the past for me,” Alwyn told the outlet.
The Brutalist actor added, “So that’s for other people. That’s my perspective.”

Alwyn reminisced about the changes in his life following his role in 2016’s Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. (He met Swift, 35, and began their highly private relationship shortly after the film.)
When questioned if he was concerned that his relationship with Swift might overshadow his career, the actor responded, “I have tried to focus on what I can actually control.”
“And right from the start, I’ve aimed to concentrate on what holds significance for me: friends, family, my work, of course,” Alwyn continued. “I think I’ve handled the external noise like many public figures do, which is by ignoring it. If you let that external influence start to impact you, you end up living from the outside in. And that’s quite detrimental.”
When it was suggested that ignoring the “noise” must be tiring, Alwyn replied, “I have a fantastic family and friends and real things in my life; these are what keep me grounded.”
“So I can only describe it as being in a different space,” he added.
As 2025 approaches, Alwyn expressed that he is feeling positive. “I always feel hopeful at the start of a new year,” he told The Guardian. “I feel great and fortunate to be in a good place.”

Although Joe Alwyn is known for being private about his personal life, he has previously spoken about his breakup with Taylor Swift.
Over a year after their split made headlines, in June 2024, Alwyn shared with The Sunday Times Style that his relationship with the "Blank Space" singer was "long, loving" and "fully committed."
"I hope everyone can empathize with the challenges of ending a long, loving, and fully committed relationship of over six and a half years," he partially stated. "It's a difficult process to manage."
At that time, a source mentioned that the separation was primarily due to "differences in their personalities" which became increasingly difficult to overlook.
Currently, Swift is in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. The couple first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 and confirmed their relationship the following month.
