Madonna isn’t letting her recent breakup with Akeem Morris affect her mood. Her friends suggest it's a positive sign that she is enjoying her own company and will consider a relationship with someone closer to her age when she feels ready.
“In the past, Madonna would often take her breakups quite hard,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “She used to feel very down and sometimes even vindictive. However, those times seem to be over, and she doesn't appear to be bothered at all.”
Akeem, 28, is nearly forty years younger than the 66-year-old "Material Girl" singer. They were first seen displaying major affection on a boat in Positano, Italy, in August. By October, the couple had quietly separated, with sources telling the Mirror that the relationship had “run its course.”
“She is all about living in the moment with an attitude of moving on quickly,” the insider reveals about the Grammy Award-winning singer. “She no longer gets as emotionally attached as she used to. By all accounts, this breakup was very amicable and mutual.”
The source mentions that the Swept Away actress and the marketing executive intend to remain friends and that Madonna feels almost "relieved to be single again."
“It allows her to reflect on things and spend more time with her children,” the insider shares. “With the holidays approaching, she has a lot of family commitments and is also busy working on a new album, leaving her with little free time.”
Madonna’s six children — Lourdes Leon, Rocco Ritchie, David Banda, Mercy James, Stella Ciccone, and Estere Ciccone — are pleased that she is taking a break as they prefer having their mother’s full attention.
“They would honestly rather see her with someone more her age,” the insider concludes.
Before her relationship with the former footballer, Madonna was involved with Josh Popper, a 30-year-old boxing coach who trained her son David, 19. Their relationship lasted a year before sources informed The U.S. Sun in May that it had “fizzled out.”
According to the outlet, Madonna has not seen much of Josh recently due to her busy schedule. Nonetheless, they both still hold each other in high regard and there are no hard feelings between them. Despite cooling off their relationship, they remain friends.
After the breakup, us exclusively reported that Madonna was “auditioning” potential partners in search of the ideal companion.
"Any prospective partner has to meet all her criteria and, naturally, sign strict non-disclosure agreements. If they fail to meet her expectations or she tires of them, she lets them go," a different source informed Life & Style on June 6. "Often, she ensures a pleasant farewell with a generous parting gift," the source added.
Regarding the kind of men that draw her interest, the insider revealed, "Madonna is attracted to a specific type—sexy, athletic, talented, fun, loyal, and passionate. She seeks a genuine connection and can detect when someone is merely after fame. She desires a man who is honestly attracted to her.
